Review
Sick of Being Healthy is a Teen fiction by Monisha K Gumber which surely will replenish one’s childhood memories because its a Novel with pictures.

The story revolves around Tara Kapoor who is a regular teen with a normal. The only thing that bothers her is her chubby body which , for her is a source of disappointment and discourage owing to the fact that her best friends are quite fit in comparison to her.

Just like any other teen in their adolescence , Tara is in love with her dream man who lives in her colony and is a little bit too much older than her and as happens in most cases does not know of Tara’s existence and undying love for him.
The Goddess of Love surely expresses her agony towards Tara in the form of her dream man falling for Tara’s skimpy clothed best friend Dolly. Heartbroken and wounded with betrayal, Tara find’s solace online in the form of Rocko.
Pack your reading glasses as Tara Kapoor takes you with her on a journey of a flab body, the turmoil to be fit to get in the eyes of her love , the secrets she learns and the realisation that usually dawns upon her after an era of wrong decisions.
And as the story unravels itself, get to know whether Rocko is the right man for her? Or did she push herself towards one of the bigger dangers of the cyber world? Will she ever get over her dream man? What are the secrets she learns? Is being healthy such a bane? Will she ever have the body she wants?

Read the book to relate to Tara as everyone of us isn’t blessed with the perfect body that skinny jeans can flaunt.
Almost every Indian girl ought to read this book because our great Indian diets and concerned mothers don’t let us stay fit unless its in our genes.

The plot has been wisely chosen to make it suitable to be read by both children and adults.
Kudos to Monisha Gumber for being able to perfectly pen down the point of view of a 14 year old as twice or thrice while reading the book I did doubt that a grown woman has wrote it. The way a teen girl sees things , the way she is eager about everything that’s changing, the way she goes gaga over a man, the way she wants him to be the one, every girl must have goes through that phase and the author has perfectly described that phase.
The book promotes a healthy body image and that’s what needs to be in the minds of the young who are still growing.
Talking about those pictures, they are made ‘not-too-perfect’ so that they reflect Tara, they were an extra treat for eyes and along with them came those witty jokes that will make the reader roll.

Ratings- 4 out of 5 stars

The title and the cover do give a slightly wrong reflection of the book ( as I had thought at first). At first I had thought that the book is about a girl who is sick of eating healthy food to keep the calories away and atlast she does the things carbs way and finds new pleasure in the deliciousness of food.( Can’t blame me for being a foodie)

The book, though perfect for teenage girls, might not entertain boys.

If you are thinking about gifting something to your sister, friend or daughter , I highly recommend this book.
